Grey' s Anatomy- Disconnect

Folks, I saw Grey's finally and I have to say that while I loved some of the scenes and like everyone else was brought to tears at certain points, I was left wanting on most of the story lines. There was a disconnect between where the characters started and where they ended up. What that means is, the writers didn't do their job of getting the characters where they wanted them.

Let's look at Meredith's journey. (1) She wakes up and admits essentially that she wanted to be dead, (2) She then gets frustrated that she can't help the dead cancer patient, and (3) She listens to Denny tell her how wonderful McDreamy is and how her friends need her. Then, all of a sudden, from nothing, she announces that she wants to go back. She admits she had intimacy issues and oh how stupid that all seems now, and she wants to go back. Sorry. That just didn't work. We learn nothing about her. We get no insight into her. She makes this powerful statement in a whisper as she admits to wanting to die "what's the point!" They did nothing with that! She doesn't really confront what was wrong. We were supposed to learn somthing about her. Did you really need an entire tangent of confronting death just to get Meredith to admit she has intimacy issues? A good voice over would have done that. I just wish they would have done more.

The scene with her mother was kind of embarrassing. It really was misplaced and was kind of stupid. They should have made it more realistic with at most an agreement between the two woman to accept that each has chosen how to live their life and that should be enough. That would have been a better message for women and their mothers, instead of this nice little package of mom finally accepting her daughter.

I did love Christina talking to Meredith and Burke finally understanding what Meredith means to Christina. It was also nice to see Burke do something for Christina for once. That was good.

As usual, I dislike Izzy. I don't like anything she has to say. I don't like her scenes and I am not invested in her as a character. I don't root for her(pretty harsh huh?) My husband keeps saying that it would be better if she died (Now that is harsh). I wouldn't go that far. But do something else with this girl. I don't care if she doesn't like Callie. Callie is a far better person than her all around.

As for the future of this bunch, I will tell you what I would like to see. I hope we see McDreamy and McSteamy start to rebuild their friendship. It is about time we started seeing men relate to each other. McDreamy was at one time Mark's best friend. What was that relationship like? What other parts of McDreamy, other than the perennial optimist, have we yet to see?

Addison, obviously is leaving the show. Will she take McSteamy with her? I hope not, but maybe for a little while.

Give me your thoughts folks. What did you think of the episode? Where would you like the stories to go?
