Last nights episode was a return to what we love. A getting back to the basics. Evetyone was in top form for the most part. There was drama, a little love and lots of intermingling with the characters. Surprisingly, there were more laugh out loud moments than in recent times. No, afterdeath, no patients coiming out of comas and talking within minutes, nobody dying, and no crazy drunkenness. Oh Wait, there was some of that.....
I must say, that most of you know I dislike Katherine Heigl, but she was pretty good last night. Sitting at the table chiding Christina to give up the goods on Colin. So funny! Getting drunk and sleeping with George. Great expression when she looks at him, looks under the covers and just looks back! Weird, even if a bit predicatble. Okay, so we will have a wierdness episode (as usual). But hopefully they will do something novel with it, like have he ge pregnant or something (although I don't think I would like that story line). I just want them to do something else with the "drunk hump" than usual. What do you think?
I do think that George's reaction to Callie confessing about her money was over the top. But thank g-d she kicked him out. How is it that only George thinks the marriage was a mistake? Maybe now its time for him to do some groveling or for Callie to move on. He is starting to lose his appeal to Callie, and to me as well.
Christina and Burke were great. Christina is at a crossroads. I don't believe that as Burke believes, that her problem is that she doesn't let people in. That isn't it. That would take a conscious choice. I think she doesn't know how to let people in and, moreover, she doesn't know what's "in there" to share. She has only sees glimpses of herself. She doesn't know how to create that connection. She grabs at Burke and holds on tight everytime something emotional happens. She is grabbing him, saying she needs him. But she really does not know how to connect. What she knew in her past was being attracted to men like Colin or members of her "man collection". She thought she wanted to be with men that she admired, that she wanted to emulate. After all, wasn't Burke the top in his field, isn't he in thoracics? Let's see what happens with them. She might be too late. Because while she is trying to figure this all out, Burke is now wondering exactly what kind of life he is going to have with her. My answer is: exactly what you see in front of you. He needs to decide if that is enough.
I loved Meredith and McDreamy. When he was sitting with Meredith's father in the laundry room. Both men exposing their weaknesses and fears, and learning that the object of their fear shares the same worry. Whether it is a patient who is a friend or an estranged daughter. By the way, wasn't McDreamy's patient awesome? I foeget the name of the actress, but I know that she has received accolades and nominations fo movies she has been in. Last night you could see why. She was great! You could tell that Patrick Dempsey stepped up his game in his scenes with her.
I alos like that Meredith and McDreamy are moving on and now settling into a nice little relationship. It is also nice to see how they know each other. "She is worth it", he says. We all love to hear that but moreover, to know that the person saying it really knows the person he is talking about.
As for Addison, she is always good. But I wonder if the bet with Mark goes bad and adds to her leaving Seattle for "LA" - New show.
Anyway, all in all a great show last night. Your thoughts?
